il Sugo Italian Kitchen will open their doors in Meridian today at 1407 W. McMillian Road for evening dine in and take-out.

Described as “Idaho Italian comfort food,” you may already be familiar with chef and owner Grant Rosendahl’s seven house made sauces. He launched his restaurant in 2019 at 904 W. Main Street (where he shared space with Main Street Deli) and Grant told the Idaho Statesman that he has watched it grow from experiment to success story.

Focusing on pasta dishes, the menu is moderately affordable.

Filet Mignon Pasta ($19.95)

Chicken Parmesan ($18.95)

il Sugo (a.k.a. the sauce) with slow roasted pork in cream sauce ($16.95)

It makes for a great date night spot with seating for 80-100 people and a bit of outdoor patio space.

Grant Rosendahl describes the atmosphere the best when he says “It won’t be white-linen restaurant, but diners will find preset wine glasses when they take their seats. So far il Sugo Italian Kitchen will only open for dinner, but they may look into opening for lunch next year.
